ACGcert is a UK-based third-party autograph authentication company serving collectors across the UK, Europe and worldwide, operating as Authenticate Certify Grade Limited (UK company number 16509460, registered in West Braintree). The name describes the service: Authenticate, Certify, Grade. Founded by Mark Kirkup, ACGcert specialises in signed memorabilia across football, sport, film, television, music and entertainment, and was built by lifelong collectors for collectors.
Each authenticator on the ACGcert team brings over 25 years of hands-on experience in the autograph and memorabilia industry, more than 150 years combined. That experience is collector-led: in-person collecting, private signings, training ground signatures, stadium and street signatures, and organised sit-down sessions. ACGcert assesses each signature within the conditions it was obtained, recognising that a quick training ground autograph and a calm seated private signing are both genuine and differ from one another by nature.
The authentication process examines signature formation, flow, pressure, speed, pen movement and signing style against known authentic examples. Experts issue one of three verdicts: likely to pass, unlikely to pass, or inconclusive. Approved items receive a secure QR-coded ACGcert hologram linked to an exact-item database record, so a buyer can confirm the specific hologram belongs to that specific piece. An official ACGcert Letter of Authenticity, encapsulation and grading are available as additional services.
