At a signing session a player signs many shirts at once, often at a prepared table with each shirt held flat. Sessions are usually well organised, so the player has time for a clean signature, and a witnessed session is observed by an authenticator.
What is a witnessed signing session?
At a signing session a player signs a number of shirts in one sitting. When the session is witnessed, an authenticator or its representative watches every signature being made and certifies the items afterwards.
Why it helps
Prepared conditions: shirts laid flat and held taut, so signatures are cleaner.
Time: the player is not rushed, as at a stadium or training ground.
A witness: an independent observer at the moment of signing.
What to check
The witness: which authenticator attended the session.
The certificate: a reference you can check in the authenticator's database.
The session details: the date and place of the signing.
