Ajax's 1994-95 away kit in navy, number 15
Umbro made this away shirt for the 1994-95 season, deep navy and printed all over with twisted Ajax badges in berry red, with diagonal shadow stripes and a 1990s collar. The crest sits centrally embroidered, the Umbro diamond to its right, and ABN AMRO appears in vertical white block letters on the left. Kluivert signed it on the number on the back, and the shirt is in excellent condition.
Authentication by Beckett
Beckett issued a certificate of authenticity for this signature, a written record kept separate from the shirt. A Beckett hologram sticker, dated January 2024, is also on the shirt, placed alongside the signature as the physical counterpart to that paperwork. Between the certificate and the hologram, this signature is documented twice over, in writing and in the physical label, by the same authenticator.
Ajax at the UEFA Champions League
Ajax went through the 1994-95 Eredivisie unbeaten and met AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League final, winning 1-0 in Vienna on 24 May 1995 for a fourth European Cup. Kluivert, then 18, scored the winning goal. Louis van Gaal's side, built largely around academy graduates, supplied most of that year's Dutch national team. The club finished the tournament as champions of Europe.
Dutch Football Talent of the Year
This signed shirt connects to Kluivert in 1995, Dutch Football Talent of the Year, Bravo Award winner, and the youngest goalscorer in a European Cup / Champions League final, aged 18 years and 10 months. He went on to become the Netherlands' all-time top scorer, 40 goals in 79 caps, a record held until 2013. This re-issue, produced in 2023-2024 from the 1994-95 design, carries his authenticated signature.
